ghost town in the skyGhost Town in the Sky is located in nearby Maggie Valley, North Carolina. It is a wonderful recreation of the Wild West, set in the beautiful landscape of the Smoky Mountains.

Ghost Town in the Sky features rides for both young and old. Our two favorites are Geronimo and the Ghost Town Chair Lift. On Geronimo, you are taken to an elevation of 4800 feet, extending 98 feet above current ground level. You get to experience one of the most spectacular views in the entire Great Smoky Mountains. Then, you get woken back to reality when Geronomo suddenly goes into a free fall before the trip is stopped by magnetic brakes. The Ghost Town Chair Lift lets you experience that same view without as much excitement. At 4600 feet above sea level, you get a full 20 minutes of spectacular sights from Maggie Valley and the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains. You may also want to try out the Gunslinger Swings, where you will be slung around on top of Buck Mountain, and we heard from our friends at Ghost Town in the Sky they are in the process of building a very entertaining roller coaster.

For the young ones on your trip, there is also plenty of excitement. The Tumble Weed Coaster is a roller coaster suitable for children but is fun enough for adults. Your kids might also enjoy the Canyon Canoes, Sky Fighters & Wagon Train, all located within the Kiddie Park. And what would the wild west be withought a carousel? Ghost Town in the Sky sports a vintage 1929 caraousel that has been completely restored and remodeled.

You will also be entertained with their authentic western town that features two saloons, a jailhouse, a schoolhouse, and a church. Experience their gunfights between the good guys and bad guys with shows every hour.

Admission for Ghost Town in the Sky is currently $30.00 for adults and $22.00 for children between 3 and 10. Children 2 and under are admitted free. They are generally open from May to November. Ghost Town in the Sky is one of our favorite local attractions and we highly recommend a visit during your stay at Cherokee Cabin .
